England Wheelchair 7's

England have just won the RBS Six Nations with a game to spare and nearly completed the Grand Slam.  Now it’s time for the Wheelchair team to shine.

However this is not the Paralympic version of Wheelchair Rugby, but the Union Version.  Played on twice the court size, played with an Oval Ball, over 80 minutes including overtime (wales won’t like that). They have Lineouts & even a Scrum. Points are awarded for a try scored, conversion and penalty’s gained. You can even score a drop goal.

England who are current World No.1 after convincing wins in Paris and London in 2015 & 2016 over the then top dogs France. (117-17) England now take on Wales and Scotland in a Round Robin even in Liverpool on May 21st

Following a successful youth training programme in partnership with the Fire Fit Hub which involved showcasing this sport along with Wheelchair Handball & Wheelchair Basketball run by head coach of England W7 & Liverpool Lions WRC Martin Beddis along Stuart Williams from the National Wales squad, the project was to give the Fire Fit Hub kids a taste of wheelchair inclusive sports.

The Project proved a massive hit with the Members says Lisa Smith, who is the Youth Manager at Fire Fit. Several Members will be included at the event to take part in the games which I am sure will be a massive opportunity to experience sports at an elite level.

The Event is open to the public to come along and support the team.  Door open at 12:00. With kickoff 12:30.  Food & refreshments available to purchase onsite.  Event is Free, however collection buckets will also be onsite.
