Crazy fun around the bog and an awesome weekend

The 2016 World Alternative Games drew to a close with a bumper Bank Holiday weekend of fantastic and crazy fun in Llanwrtyd Wells.

From an action packed programme over two days at Waen Rhydd Bog to a fun filled day of children's activities at Manor Adventure, to stone skimming, plank racing and a thrilling mountain bike chariot racing competition.

Thousands of visitors flocked to Llanwrtyd Wells to join in the fun, plenty of them from overseas, and with many telling us that not only will they be returning, but they'll be recommending the World Alternative Games to friends and family.

For the first time, children had the opportunity to have a go at bog snorkelling in their very own, specially built bog.

And other than bog snorkelling, Sunday's visitors also queued up to take part in wife carrying, husband dragging and ditch racing around the bog.

"It's been an awesome finale to a brilliant World Alternative Games, and the feedback we've had has been fantastic," said Karen Perkins, secretary of the organising committee. "There's been so much goodwill, and it's great that our event continues to gain such a tremendous reputation.

"I can't thank our volunteers enough for helping make the event the success it has been, and once again we've brought visitors flocking in to Llanwrtyd Wells."
